Association of New Jersey Household Hazardous Waste Coordinators Meeting

Jenkinson’s Inlet, Point Pleasant, NJ

Welcome

ANJHHWC President Daniel Napoleon called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. He thanked everyone for attending.

A motion was made to approve the minutes from the April 6, 2016 meeting by Larry Gindoff and seconded by Chuck Giacobbe.  There were no comments or changes to the minutes.  All in attendance approved the motion.

Treasurer’s Report

Chris Sikorski provided the Treasurer’s report.  He reported the ANJHHWC’s account balance is currently $24,237.24.  Chris Sikorski stated all memberships had been received.  Melinda Williams moved to accept the Treasurer’s report and Renee Casapula seconded the motion. All in attendance approved the motion.

Financial Review: a review of the 2015 financial records was conducted by members Melissa Harvey and Wayne DeFeo and was found to be in order.

NJDEP Update

Ed Nieliwocki from NJDEP stated that all but 5 counties have submitted their 2015 REA grant applications; the application deadline is Dec. 31, 2016.  Ed Nieliwocki said that he is trying to get the 2016 REA grant application out to all counties by the end of this year.  Ed also stated that NJDEP continues with their Data Management program and may have the Transporter Reports online in the near future.

Paint Care Update

Assemblyman Timothy Eustace has replaced Assemblywoman Grace Spencer as the Chair of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee.  Ed Waters reported that they do not expect Paint Care Legislation, A1373, to see any movement prior to the election.  Ed said he may try to set up a meeting between Assemblyman Eustace and ANJHHWC leadership to ensure his understanding and support.

Waste Stream Challenge: Radioactive Waste and Single Use Battery Recycling

This discussion was postponed until Tuesday, September 20 at the Recycling Coordinator’s meeting in Ocean County.
