Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Disposal and Computer & Electronic Recycling Days

In 2008 there will be two (2) comprehensive HHW disposal and computer/electronics recycling days are conducted per year.

Hours are from 8:00 AM -- 12:00 Noon

  • Warren County District Landfill
      
    From Route 80
    - Take Route 80 to Route 46E. Follow Rt. 46 until you come to the Junction of Route 31. Turn onto Route 31 South. Approximately one mile on the right you will come to an access road. The sign will read Covanta Energy. Make a right onto the access road and keep to the left at the Y in the road. At the stop sign make a right (Mt. Pisgah Ave.) and follow signs for PCFAWC Offices or Landfill. The driveway for the offices is on the right before the scale house.

    From Route 78 - Take Route 78 to Route 31 North. When you reach the town of Washington, cross over Route 57 and continue for approximately 6-7 miles. You will see a sign on the right side of the road that reads “Warren County Resource Recovery Facility”. One-tenth of a mile on the left you will see an access road . The sign will read Covanta Energy. Make a left onto the access road and keep to the left at the Y in the road. At the stop sign make a right (Mt. Explosives or Highly Reactive Materials may be dangerous. If you have these types of materials, call first for safety instructions. DO NOT bring these materials without prior authorization! These dangerous items include, but are not limited to, picric acid, isopropyl ether, calcium carbide, perchloric acid and benzoyl peroxide.

All material should be kept in its original container.

Non-Hazardous Waste Sites
 
Warren County District Landfill,
Warren County Convenience/Recycling Center

Located off Route 31 North in White Township next to the Warren County District Landfill. The Convenience/Recycling Center is open to residents of Warren County Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Materials Accepted - The glass bottles, aluminum cans, tin & bimetal cans and #1 and #2 plastic bottles can now all be co-mingled.

Glass Bottles and jars only no light bulbs, ceramics or windows. Remove and discard lids, rings and foil. Separate clear, brown, green/blue. Rinse clean.

Metals

Aluminum Cans Rinse clean and flatten; no foil or pie pans.

Tin & Bimetal Cans Rinse clean and flatten; remove labels. Empty aerosol cans are acceptable.

Plastics Bottles only (no tubs, lids, plates or cups). Look for the recycling symbol and number on the bottom. Drain completely, remove and discard caps and rings, rinse clean and flatten.

  • NO MOTOR OIL CONTAINERS

Co-mingled Paper - With the exception of newspaper and corrugated cardboard, all other recyclable paper may be mixed together.

Newspaper

Must be bundled and securely tied with twine; no plastic bags or other paper.

Magazines and Junk Mail

Should be bundled and tied. INCLUDE: catalogs, fax paper, colored paper. DO NOT INCLUDE: phone books, newspaper, carbon paper, foil or plastic coated papers.

Corrugated Cardboard

Only the double layer with the waffle inside layer. INCLUDE: brown paper bags, flatten, bundled and tie securely with twine.

Computer Paper

White and greenbar. Remove paperclips, rubber bands and staples. Deliver in containers which you can take home with you.

White Letterhead and Copier Paper

Remove paperclips, rubber bands and staples. Deliver in containers which you can take home with you.

Empty Aerosol Cans must be completely empty, discard in the trash.

Motor oil and automotive batteries should be deposited at those service stations which accept them.

Household batteries can be taken to designated drop off locations throughout Warren County.
